Performance Space
The world of Mythical Creatures can be conjured in a wide range of settings, an indoor studio or theatre, a warehouse, an outdoor garden, a garden maze, or a festival site.
Stage Show: The original production was staged in a large warehouse across three distinct performance areas, accommodating aerial, fire and mermaid performances, with seated audiences guided between each section. Future productions can retain this multi-area format or be adapted to a single stage, with suitable space and clearances for the cast, staging and selected performance elements.
Walkthrough Experiences: Require an suitable indoor or outdoor space for themed environments, audience pathways, character encounters and designated performance areas. The layout and available space will determine how the experience is designed and how audiences move through it.
Roving Characters & Featured Performances: Space requirements depend on the selected characters and props, with dedicated performance areas required for aerial, fire or larger feature acts.
Aerial and Rigging
Where aerial performance is included, a certified aerial rigging point is required. Existing venue rigging can be used provided it meets the required safety and load requirements for the aerial apparatus and performance.
Where venue rigging is not available, Euphoric Flow can provide its own freestanding aerial rig. The freestanding rig is approximately 5.8 metres high with a 4 × 5 metre footprint.
Aerial performances require suitable overhead clearance, space around the apparatus and appropriate safety arrangements. The aerial setup will depend on the selected acts and venue.
Fire
The production can include dedicated fire performance sections using open flame, ranging from smaller fire props to larger feature acts. Fire performance requires venue or event approval, any relevant permits or permissions, a suitable performance area with adequate separation from the audience, and appropriate fire safety measures.
Euphoric Flow carries appropriate public liability insurance for its performance work and follows appropriate fire safety procedures. A dedicated fire safety person or spotter is used where required as part of the fire performance safety arrangements.
Indoor fire is subject to venue suitability and approval. If open flame cannot be accommodated at a particular venue, an adapted option can be discussed.
For walkthrough and roving experiences, fire acts generally require designated performance areas. Smaller fire roving performances may be possible where the venue and event conditions allow, subject to appropriate safety arrangements.
Mermaid Performance and Water Access
Mermaid performances can include a dedicated mermaid tank, stationary character appearances and interactive photo opportunities.
Where a mermaid tank is incorporated, a suitable installation area and water access are required, along with arrangements for filling, operating and emptying the tank.
A mermaid tank can be supplied as part of the production, subject to venue suitability, access, floor-loading capacity and relevant safety requirements.
Alternative mermaid appearances can be incorporated where a water-based performance is not suitable.
Lighting and Atmosphere
Lighting is an important part of creating the different magical environments within Mythical Creatures.
Theatrical and immersive productions can incorporate atmospheric lighting, illuminated scenery and visual effects to enhance the different mythical realms and performance areas.
Some sections use LED props and are most effective when the lighting is dimmed. Fire, aerial and other performances may require different lighting conditions.
For larger immersive productions, lighting can be developed alongside the themed scenery and environments to create a more extensive visual experience.
Sound and Music
A suitable sound system is required for the theatrical show's music and hosted sections. Where a mystical host or live narrator is incorporated, an appropriate microphone will also be required.
Walkthrough experiences can include atmospheric music, soundscapes and sound effects throughout different themed areas.
Sound requirements will depend on the selected format, performance areas and venue layout.
Setup, Pack Down and Production Planning
Setup and pack-down requirements depend on the selected format, cast, equipment, staging and venue arrangements.
Larger theatrical and immersive productions may require additional time for installing aerial equipment, themed environments, lighting, sound and other production elements. Technical rehearsals and venue access arrangements may also be required.
Smaller roving experiences generally involve less extensive setup, with requirements based on the selected performers, props and any featured acts.
